Gary Villegas![]() Gary Villegas is the founder of Eternity CrossFit. He has been exposed to diverse sports modalities since a very young age which has taught him the benefits of living an active and disciplined life. He started with Tae Kwon Do at the age of twelve and began coaching at fourteen under the direction of Pan American champion Wilfredo Correa. His mentor taught him one of his life's most important lessons of self-discipline and to see things positively and encouraged him to believe unconditionally that through hard work he was capable of doing anything he wanted. Gary became interested in the fitness community when he began learning the basics of weight lifting at the age of sixteen. After six years of training he started to coach friends while living in the Caribbean Islands and quickly realized how much joy he was gaining from the experiences. He decided to educate himself on how to get more involved in the fitness industry. Then he began learning the art of Yoga, Capoeira, and Muay Thai which he continues to practice. At twenty-four he made the decision to further his career as a trainer and moved to California where he started worked at 24 Hour Fitness for six years while obtaining the certifications of NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Special Population Training, NCSF, PT on the Net. When he thought that he was at the peak of his career he was invited by a girl to do a CrossFit workout that she promised would be less than ten minutes. After being humbled by the hardest workout of his life named "Fran," he was determined to learn everything there was to learn about CrossFit. That day was a life changing experience which made him realize there was a more effective, efficient, and unique way of achieving optimal health which are the root ideals of his life and career. Two months later he chose to focus on immersing himself into CrossFit by getting his Level 1 certification and leaving 24 Hour Fitness for an environment which would allow for his growth in a community of true fitness. CrossFit has allowed Gary to share his passion by uplifting others and exposing them to a positive and healthy way of living. He does not measure personal success by how much he can lift or how fast he can run, but by how he can help his clients increase performance which equals health. Today he his stronger, faster, more of a well-rounded athlete, and thanks to CrossFit all of the modalities that he practices have been enhanced and he is looking forward to becoming a top CrossFit athlete. His personal records include: inspiring thirteen friends and clients to become CrossFit certified, helped four of his clients to reach a state of optimal health which lead them to get off of medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and is now honored to own Eternity CrossFit where he is coaching over forty amazing people which have gained the benefits of increasing functionality in their daily lives. He learned one of his biggest lessons as a coach through Greg Amundson which is: "To unconditionally believe in his ability of accomplishing anything he wants and unconditionally believe in the ability of others being able to do the same." Today he wants to share his knowledge with his clients and build a strong community whose foundations are caring for others, integrity, accountability, and a lot of fun. |
Michele Douglas![]() Michele grew up in Texas and was involved in soccer and tae kwon do at a nationally competitive level from a young age. She graduated from Texas State with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology where she continued to stay active in the sports community, playing soccer for all four years. At the age of eighteen she became interested in advancing her athletic abilities and began weightlifting. By twenty-one she was training her friends and family and motivating them to focus on living healthy and active lives. She moved to California in spring of 2010 where she began working at 24 Hour Fitness as a membership counselor. She instantly gravitated towards the personal trainers, wanting to learn all that she could about fitness. With an opportunity to start her career as a personal trainer she began working at a small boutique gym where she was introduced to CrossFit by her trainer, Gary Villegas. CrossFit became her newest and biggest passion after the first workout and three weeks later she received her Level 1 certification. CrossFit has inspired her to push herself harder than she ever imagined, and has delivered results beyond any expectations. When she began training in CrossFit her max amount of pullups was five with her mile paced at 7:30, and six months later she is able to do twenty-five pullups, run a mile in under six minutes, and execute hand stand walks and muscle ups with no previous gymnastics experience. Her ongoing goal is to share her passion of fitness and show others how they can do the same thing through CrossFit. She loves the perfect balance of competition and team camaraderie. Currently, Michele is a coach at Eternity CrossFit and is working towards getting her Kid's CrossFit certification. |
CrossFit is not just about becoming an athlete of the future. It's about becoming a better human being. It's about self-actualization. It's about creative thinking. It's about not being ok with imagined limitations. It's about maximum effort. It's about living your life hard and well and with joy.
